[41:11]  1 tn Heb “the men of your strife”; NASB “those who contend with you.”

[41:11]  2 tn Heb “like nothing”; NAB “come to nought.”

[45:16]  3 tn “together they will walk in humiliation, the makers of images.”

[45:17]  4 tn Heb “Israel will be delivered by the Lord [with] a permanent deliverance.”

[45:17]  5 tn Heb “you will not be ashamed and you will not be humiliated for ages of future time.”

[50:7]  6 tn Heb “Therefore I set my face like flint.”

[54:4]  7 tn Or “embarrassed”; NASB “humiliated…disgraced.”

[54:4]  8 tn Another option is to translate, “the disgrace of our widowhood” (so NRSV). However, the following context (vv. 6-7) refers to Zion’s husband, the Lord, abandoning her, not dying. This suggests that an אַלְמָנָה (’almanah) was a woman who had lost her husband, whether by death or abandonment.
